Featherstone Rovers sign PNG International Wellington Albert on Loan from Leed Rhinos

Featherstone Rovers can confirm Wellington Albert has joined the club on a one-month loan.

The prop forward has impressed the Rovers fans so far while making four appearances on Dual Registration from Leeds Rhinos.

Albert now will join Featherstone on loan hopefully until the culmination of the 2019 season strengthening Ryan Carr’s forward pack for the all important run to the playoffs.

The Rhinos will have the option to recall for forward after the first 28 days of the loan, with Albert still being available for the Rovers until they choose to.

The 24-year old joined Leeds following Widnes’ financial troubles and has gone on to make six appearances in the Blue and Amber.

Internationally, Albert has played five times for Papua New Guinea appearing in two World Cups for the Kumuls.

This signing was aided by the fabulous members of our Centenary Squad Builder, meaning since it's launch just two weeks ago the Rovers have been able to recruit two new players.

Ryan Carr, Rovers Head Coach says Albert will help keep the team at the top of their game: “He’s been a good addition to the team and brings even more depth to our already strong forward pack. His signing will help push everyone else to their best as well as they continue to battle for jerseys every week.”

Davide Longo, Featherstone CEO is happy to have such a destructive forward for the run in at the end of the season: “Wellington will be a big asset for us in the coming weeks and would like to thank Leeds Rhinos for allowing it to happen at this late stage of the season.”

Albert could be in action for the Rovers this Sunday as Featherstone travel to the Tetley's Stadium to take on Dewsbury Rams on Sunday 4th August at 3pm.
