Aeropower cleans PPL lines

PNG Power Limited (PPL) has engaged an Australian-based company to conduct inspections of transmission lines in Port Moresby, the acting chief executive officer of PPL said.
John Yanis said PPL engaged Queensland-based Aeropower to conduct line integrity inspections on all transmission line apparatus within the city’s power grid.
Aeropower would conduct this exercise as part of the ongoing transmission lines inspection programme to check and verify the condition of the lines and associated hardware.
He said this would allow PPL to plan its resources and carry out maintenance on those lines that were identified.
The daily airborne integrity inspection of the transmission lines in Port Moresby which was started yesterday and would end on Feb 5.
Yanis said Port Moresby residents were requested to remain calm and keep children and pets at safe distances from the work areas as PPL would like to avoid frightening them while the operations were being carried out.
The lines were covered with dust due to prolong dry weather.
