Pomalmal High School gets first Permanent Staff House

The Pomalmal High School in West Yangoru held their fifth Grade 10 Graduation on Wednesday which I attended as Guest of Honour and delivered the keynote address to the graduating class.

I also opened the first permanent staff house at the School, which our YS DDA has built, with two more to be completed over the next three months.

Our target is to have 3 permanent houses for staff before the 2020 Academic Year starts while we replace the balance of the final three next year.

I also committed to bring machines in to level the ground and have the school ready for more classrooms.

I told the people the first car has crossed over the new Koboibus bridge which we should complete with final works this month before our grand opening in December 2019.

I also took the opportunity to visit the proposed Police Station site at Pelegel on the hill over looking Pomalmal High School, which we will start constructing next year.

I thank the Board and Management of the School for such a wonderful day and the students who worked very hard to complete their studies with a good number, I’m told, scoring very high marks and qualifying to be pioneers at the new Yangoru Sausia School of Excellence where they will do Grade 11 next year.

Parents and students were informed that Nagam Adventist High School will be upgraded to a Secondary School next year so the Pomalmal students will also have additional spaces to compete Grade 11 and 12 next year.

Our priority in the District is academic excellence with the our District Academic Board setting four external exams for all our Grade 10 and 12 students to better prepare the students and schools for national exams.

I’m confident the strategy will see marked improvements in our High School and Secondary Schools academic performance from this year onwards.

YS is certainly on the move upwards in Education and over time we will see the fruits of our labour, investments and innovative strategies we are pioneering in the Province and country to get to the top.
