500 Polling Centers for Bougainville Referendum

The Chief Referendum Officer for the Bougainville Referendum, Mauricio Claudio, says around 500 polling centres will be set up across Bougainville and the 21 provinces for the November vote.

The Post Courier reports Mr Claudio saying enrolment locations will also be established in the Solomon Islands, Australia and four mining and agricultural operations in PNG.

Mr Claudio is further reported saying, counting will only begin once polling ends.

The public display, beginning in Bougainville in the first week of September, for three weeks, will require everyone to check the preliminary roll displayed in their wards to ensure they are enrolled correctly; complete an enrolment form if not; and tell their ward recorder if any names were not eligible according to the referendum criteria.
