Mobile Health Clinic for Rigo District

The Rigo District in partnership with the Digicel Foundation has come up with a 50% payment agreement to purchase a mobile health clinic to provide basic health service to its people.

The official cheque presentation of K94,000 for the purchase of the New Mobile Clinic was handed over by the Member for Rigo Open, Lekwa Gure to Digicel Foundation’s Chief operations officer Adi Anaseini Vesikula, at the Digicel Headquarter, Gordons Port Moresby.

Digicel Foundation Chief Operation’s officer said that the K94, 000 is Rigo districts 50% contribution towards purchasing the Mobile Health Clinic. The mobile Health Clinic is one of Digicel’s Health Programmes

The Mobile Health Clinic comes in the form of a Land Cruiser Ambulance which is fully kitted and comes directly from Japan and is worth around K188, 00.00.
“It’s a Land Cruiser because of the rugged terrains of the country which suits it. Around Papua New Guinea we have invested in 31 mobile health clinics right throughout the country and the of course the land cruiser is the most suited vehicle to be able to do all the health rounds around the country.

It’s more than just an ambulance.  It is fitted with all the basic equipment’s a health worker needs to give the patient a fighting chance before the patient actually receives a proper medical care from a health facility,” said Adi Anaseini Vesikula.

Member for Rigo Lekwa Gure thanked the Digicel Foundation for bringing to attention of Rigo District this project.

“We do appreciate all the investment Digicel Foundations has done all throughout the country including the central province in the two important social sectors like Health and Education, through their classrooms and Library programme, this time through this Mobile Health Clinic.

“Rigo District is very fortunate and is happy to go into partnership with Digicel Foundation to acquire one of this ambulance” said Mr Lekwa.

Many sectors both in the District and Provinces lack basic facilities and resources. In the health sector this is one of the facility that it lacks.

This ambulance will be based at the main health centre in Kwikila and will benefit a population of 67,000 in all the three LLG’s of Rigo District.

The ambulance is expected to arrive around January 2019.
