PNG Public Employees Association calls for investigation into Maserati

The PNG Public Employees Association has called for a thorough investigation into the purchase of 40 Maserati by the government, which received widespread criticism both locally and internationally.

President Robert Kutapai said the government cannot afford these vehicles at a time when the country is running out of money:

“We have outstanding industrial issues yet to be resolved, yet the government sees fit to find money to purchase expensive vehicles,” said Katupai.

As for the planned stop-work this Friday, Mr Kutapai said it is up to its members to decide for themselves whether they want to be part of the Opposition-proposed nationwide boycott or not.
