Engine failure forces Air Niugini abort flight

An Air Niugini aircraft had to abort take-off this morning, following an engine failure in the final moments of take-off.

PX9260, a Charter for the Department of Finance had been scheduled to travel to Kieta.

The aircraft was carrying officials from the Department of Finance, Treasury, as well as media personnel, who were on their way to Buin, via Kieta for the 2018 Finance & Treasury Heads meeting.

The incident this morning comes days after a PC boeing Aircraft landed short of the runway in Chuuk, FSM.

Air Niugini is yet to release a statement on this morning's incident.
