Solomon Islands Police in Central Province remand 18 year old male
Police in the Central Province have arrested and charged an 18-year old male from Louna Village in the Russell Islands on allegations of house break-in.
He has been remanded in custody since 28 July 2018.
Officer Commanding Station Yandina Police, Staff Sergeant Thomas Fakatonu says, “It is alleged that in the early hours of 2 February 2018 the suspect broke into a shop at Louna Village by removing a door masonite and allegedly stole cash of $6,000.00. The owners were not at home at the time of the alleged incident.”
Staff Sergeant Fakatonu says, “The matter was reported to police at Yandina who investigated and the suspect was arrested and escorted to Honiara for remand last week.
He adds: “The suspect has been on the run after the incident. It was so fortunate that the arrest was made with the assistance of another police officer who is on annual leave.”
Provincial Police Commander Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “I wish to remind all good people of the Province that house break-in is a serious crime according to the law. It carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment if found guilty.”
“I wish to thank my officers at Yandina for investigating this case and successfully arresting the suspect,” says PPC Leta.
He has been remanded in custody since 28 July 2018.
