PNG University of Technology Alumni Members

There is now close to 20,000 graduates from the PNG University of Technology from the last 50 years after 650 more graduated in the institution’s 50th graduation today at the Taraka campus in Lae.

Apart from this milestone, another milestone was also created this week when Unitech management under acting Vice Chancellor Dr Ora Renagi launched the Unitech Alumni Association on Thursday.

Dr. Renagi said with the amount of graduates together with the wealth of knowledge and experience put together over the last 50 years, it is an opportune time to set up their own alumni network.

The acting VC who took over from Dr Albert Schram just last month, said they will bring together former graduates to collaborate, network and bring much more meaningful development to the university, community, province and nation as a whole.

Minister for National Planning and Monitoring, Member for Yangoru-Saussia, and Alumni member, Richard Maru, officiated at the launching of the alumni association and also was the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony.

This year’s number of graduates is a little less than 2016 and 2017 because the affiliated Unitech Nursing College had a separate graduation ceremony end of last year.

The Post Graduate School, the biggest in the country, saw 37 graduating with 2 PhDs, 3 Master of Philosophy, 9 Master of Science, 4 Master of Communication Studies, 5 Executive Master of Business Administration, 1 Master of Technology and 13 Post Graduate Certificates in teaching.
