PNG Book Foundation donates books

The PNG Book foundation donated 40 new textbooks to the UPNG Economic Division this morning with the aim to upskill students with the latest in economics.
While presenting the books, Mr Isaac Ramson the representative from PNG book foundation said as an organisation they believe that donating books will help cultivate the best human resource that will go out to contribute at a higher level.
PNG book foundation is a charity organisation that has been operating for the last three years donating books to elementary, primary and high schools and UPNG is the first tertiary institution that they have donated books to.
“This books should not merely be seen as donation, take care of it so it cultivates you to be the best economists who will go out and make impact in our society,” said Mr Ramson.
This initiative was taken by the Economics students’ president, Collin Nixon and his executives as a way to give back to the Economics Division.
“It is my personal conviction that I should serve the interest of others and give something back to my school,’’ said Mr Nixon.
“Therefore I took up the challenge to arrange for book donation since the books in the library are mostly outdated and I believe most these books are latest additions and will cater for the generations to come.”
Meanwhile, Professor Lekshmi Pillai, the Executive Dean of School of Business and Public Policy (SBPP) thanked the students’ president Mr Nixon for the initiative, saying having the right knowledge and skills makes a better society.
Professor Pillai also acknowledged the PNG book foundation for their contribution and said the best gift anyone can give to a society is the right knowledge and skills and one way is through books. PNGFM
