Solomon Islands Police confirm missing person found

Police at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province confirms the person reported missing from the Tenaru area in Central Guadalcanal since Sunday 14 January 2018 has been found and well.

It was alleged that the man went missing between 2 and 3 am in the early morning of 14 January after watching video at a neighbour’s house in the Tenaru area in Central Guadalcanal.

The relatives conducted a search on the night and later reported the matter to the police the next day.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “My officers and relatives of the man have been searching for the missing person since it was reported to us.”

“I can confirm that the man has now been found and is safe,” says PPC Manetoga.

It is alleged the man disappeared following fears for his safety.

Superintendent Manetoga says, “My officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the man.”

Mr Manetoga says, “I appeal to people in the Tenaru area in Central Guadalcanal to assist my investigation team with information about the alleged threat on the man.”

He adds, “I would also like to clarify the alleged body parts found in the Tenaru area as reported in the media cannot be confirmed as that of a human being.  We cannot confirm the reports and so I would like to appeal to members of the communities in the Tenaru area not to fear and to feel free to move around.  I appeal to you all to report any thing that is unusual in your area to the Henderson Police Station.”
