PNG’s top entertainer crowned by Digicel Play
Digicel Play’s new hit show Yu Em Khax came to an exciting close on Sunday night, with the announcement of its inaugural winner, NoiiZiik PNG (Beat Boxers) from Port Moresby.
Noiiziik PNG took home the first prize of K20,000, followed by second place winner magician Jack Spade who won K10,000. Third place was secured by dance group Vigilante, who walked away with K5,000 worth of prize money.
The fourth, fifth and sixth placed acts were given consolation prizes including a year’s supply of free Digicel Play TV subscriptions and Digicel 1Tok Combo Plan.
Yu Em Khax  is the first locally-produced talent TV show, which profiled Papua New Guinea’s most talented, unique and brightest entertainers. The show began its first season in late 2016, after welcoming hundreds of entertainers from around the country at local auditions held in Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen and Kokopo.
DigicelPlayCEO,NicoMeyer said Sunday night’s grand finale was excellent entertainment.
“The top six final acts were incredible, impressing the show’s judges, live audience and Digicel Play subscribers watching from home,” he said.
“Yu Em Khax has certainly delivered what we were aiming to do when we developed the show concept in 2016, which was to unearth PNG’s most spectacular talent and give everyday people a real chance to shine.
“I’d like to extend very big congratulations to the winner, Noiiziik PNG, who continued to blow the judges away each week. Your talent is so inspirational and we wish you the very best in chasing your dreams now that you have been crowned PNG’s ultimate ‘khax’.
“We can’t wait to see you continue to shine and inspire the next generation of beat boxers around the country.”
Nico said the local production would not have been possible without the specialised local production team responsible for producing the show each week.
“We have a very dedicated team of producers at Digicel Play, who have demonstrated their exceptional talents throughout the filming of Yu Em Khax,” he said.
“Digicel Play is committed to the growth of the local entertainment industry in PNG and strives to bring the best entertainment to PNG.
“We received overwhelming feedback from Digicel Play subscribers for bringing them the very best in local entertainment each week.
“I’d also like to thank our fantastic judges, Calextus Simeon, Mereani Masani, DadiiGii and Mistiq who shared their expertise in show business with the acts each week.”
With Yu Em Khax set to return to TVWAN Life late this year, entertainers from around the country are advised to start practicing their act in preparation to be crowned PNG’s next television star.
