Daru Hospital is progressing in tackle TB cases with its implementation of TB decentralisation programs to bring treatment closer to the patients.

According to the Hospital’s TB Physician Dr. Stanard Hiasihri, they have established five treatment sites in Daru bringing treatment to the door steps of the patients and it’s not only that, as encouragement to get treatment, the medical team also give free lunch to every patients seeking treatment at the various sites.

“We have two community program sites that we will be expending too, Mabuta one and Tapila,” said Dr. Hiasihri.
“Now that we have a specialist medical officer, we will be doing a lot of decentralisation activities. We tell them to manage our multi-drug resistant cases at the community level and we will just coordinate here.”
Meantime, next month the Muti- drug resistant (MDR) TB treatment team will be giving every patient getting treatment a free shopping voucher as well to use at the shops. PNGFM
