ICE SOLD IN PORT MORESBY STREETS

Methamphetamine or Ice is believed to be currently produced and sold on the streets in the Nations Capital as a revenue source, with fears of it, contributing to street crimes.
The drug is also highly addictive.
It was revealed at a Security Professionals Association Meeting in Port Moresby, last week, that ingredients of the drug is imported from overseas, and sold in night clubs in Port Moresby.
A source also revealed that some dealers pose as taxi drivers at entertainment areas, so as to avoid suspicion.
Methamphetamine is a white crystalline drug that people take by inhaling through the nose, smoking or injecting into their bodies with a needle, while some take it orally.
Its effects can last from six to eight, or even 24 hours depending on the dosage.
The meeting was also told that this drug once taken can result in users developing a strong desire to continue taking it because the drug creates a false sense of happiness or confidence, but also decreases the users appetite and eventually taking control of the users lives.
Methamphetamine is also known as meth, crank, chalk or speed and ice and is used by all ages especially in night clubs or parties.
