QUEENSLAND SPEAKER SIGN MOU WITH PNG

The Speaker of Queensland Parliament Fiona Simpson, is in the country for a Parliamentary Partnership Agreement, or a twining arrangement between Papua New Guinea and the Queensland State Parliaments.

The Queensland State Speaker and her delegation arrived in Port Moresby Jackson's International Airport, yesterday afternoon.

The twining arrangement concept is being promoted and encouraged by the Common Wealth Parliamentary Association, or C-P-A in which P-N-G is a member.

It aims to foster a partnership that not only will build and enhance the organizational capacity and strengthen parliamentary democracy, but ensures Parliament fulfils its legislative, representative and oversight roles, in the parliamentary democratic process.

The Official Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, relating to the arrangement, will be held at the State Function room in Parliament today.
