UTILIZE GOVERNMENT FUNDS: Marape

Acting Minister for Education James Marape says he will be visiting schools in all the provinces later this year.

Mr Marape says the purpose of the visit is to ensure that the governments allocation of funds to schools for this year are put in to good use.

He says about 10 million Kina have been appropriated to each districts and out of that amount, 2 million kina is allocated to education in each of the electorates.

The Acting Minister says this is the year of implementation and the government wants to see funds, properly utilized for its intended purposes.

He says a lot of funds have been dispatched to provinces and districts by this government unlike in the past where the funds are parked in Waigani.

Marape added that by the end of this year, classrooms and other school infrastructure should be in place to achieve some of the governments goals and objectives.

He appealed to all the provincial governors and elected leaders to work together in implementing the government's policies and plans and excuses will no longer be tolerated.
