These were the remarks made by the CEO of 2015 Pacific Games Organising Committee Mr Peter Stewart when addressing representatives of various stakeholders at this morning’s Breakfast hosted the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Port Moresby.

The main idea of the breakfast was to have the Games Organising Committee present a full report of its functions and achievements to date in their preparation towards hosting the Pacific Games.

Mr Stewart highlighted the milestone achievements by the Committee, while outlining the total expenditure to date, money yet to be spent and what ways other interested business houses can be involved and benefit from the Games.

“20 companies have contributed in services to a total of K64 million, K51 million are money spent to date with a further K138 million not yet spent while work yet to be completed amounts up to K22 million and K3.8 million paid as salaries to the 150 dedicated staffs of the Games Organising Committee,” says Mr Stewart.

Mr Stewart also stressed the importance of local business to be involved with the Games as it is a window opportunity for them to market their products and business ideas overseas and help grow their business.

He said that it is not just about business. At the end of the day the Games is about the athletes that will be participating and everyone involved with the delivery of the Game must make sure we satisfy the athletes by producing a conducive environment and a successful Games.
