Solomon Islands Police make arrests following the burning of three machines

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested two adult men in Isabel Province early this month following burning of three machines at the Raja Logging Camp, close to Huali and Hageulu Villages in the Gao District.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Isabel Province, Superintendent Leonard Tahnimana explains: “The two men are still at Buala due to bad weather, before they can be escorted to Honiara for a remand application.”

“They are allegedly to have involved in the burning of three machines owned by the logging company operating in Isabel Province. The men have been formally charged with each count of arson,” says PPC Tahnimana.

He adds: “Arson is an offence that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment if found guilty by a Court.”

“The police will continue to investigate crime and submit cases to prosecution. Communities in Isabel Province are urged to assist your police to prevent crime,” says PPC Tahnimana.
