K400,000 set as tender reserve price forPNG APEC’s vehicles

Maseratis brought in for use in the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit will have a tender reserve price of K400,000 (US$117,000), Papua New Guinea Finance and Rural Development Minister Charles Abel says.

“We need to recover the minimum amount of the money that the State has spent on these vehicles when hosting the APEC.”

Abel said this on Friday in Port Moresby during the disposal ceremony of 166 vehicles to the Government and non-government organisations.

“These governments (China and Japan) when donating these vehicles told us that after APEC, those 166 vehicles must not be sold. And so we are now donating them only to government and non-governmental organisations like churches.”

Abel also told the recipients to take care of them.

Meanwhile, Boroko Baptist Church Pastor Julius Kivori said he was happy to be one of the recipients.

“This is God’s blessing through the Government and we will use to benefit the church’s community activities like our women and children ministries,” he said.
