PNG govt to terminate Australia's Paladin Solutions Security contracted on Manus Island

The much talked about Paladin Solutions Security contracted on Manus Island is on the Papua New Guinea government’s radar.

PNG  Immigration and Border Security Minister Hon. Petrus Thomas says the government of Papua New Guinea wants their contract terminated by the end of this month.

A letter directed to the Australian Home Affairs through the Australian High Commission was issued by Papua New Guinea’s Chief migration officer Mr Solomon Kantha, said Mr Thomas.

As government we want to see a transparent tender process and would like to see that our nationals have a go for the job in Manus.

Papua New Guinea companies have the capacity and expertise to provide the same services as what we getting from Paladin. It’s about time we allow our own people to participate in such businesses so it can boost our economy, Thomas said.

There are plans on renewing the Paladin contract by the Australian government but we working on negotiating and getting the service back to our local companies.
