Pruaitch wins vote to be the alternate Prime Minister Nominee

Papua New Guinea Opposition leader Patrick Pruaitch has been announced as the alternative Prime Minister for the Opposition  Camp to challenge Prime Minister Peter O'Neill. In a secret ballot conducted at the Laguna hotel in Port Moresby, Pruiatch got the majority votes for the   Prime Minister post  ahead of Tari-Pori MP James Marape. .

The results:
Patrick Pruaitch - 37 Votes
James Marape - 28 Votes

Despite the vote results, Marape said Pruaitch has the full backing of the alternative camp and congratulated him.

Pruaitch expressed gratitude to the 67 members in the Laguna Camp for having the confidence in him.

He said he is humbled by the nomination.

Pruaitch said the Alternative Government will look at serious national issues and they are ready to move forward with the people of the country.

Pruaitch also thanked the original Opposition team that stuck by him through thick and thin and also Government MPs who moved to create the Alternative Government.
