Former Vanuatu aid negotiator convicted of fraud, money laundering

Former Vanuatu Principal Aid negotiator Victor Rory has been convicted today after being found guilty to 20 counts of obtaining money by deception.

He was also convicted on 20 additional counts of money laundering.

Rory was still working with the government when he stole more than VT14 million (US$875,000) belonging to the European Union by transferring them into his private translation company's account.

He was released on bail and Rory will stand trial for sentencing submission on 23 April .
