Solomon Islands Police at Taro in Choiseul Province is investigating a fatal accident that occurred at the Kutu logging camp in East Choiseul which resulted in one death and two injuries on 10 October 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “It was a sad incident that claimed the life of a male person in his 30’s from Lulimekolo Village. The group of seven local men were allegedly having a few beers after work at Dudurana log pond. After finishing their drinks they decided to travel to a nearby village to buy more.”

Superintendent Eria adds: "The driver of the vehicle was arrested and remanded in custody to appear in the Gizo Magistrates Court on 29 October 2018.
“On behalf of the police, I wish to extend our condolences and sympathy to the family and relatives of the deceased for the untimely loss of one of their members,” says PPC Eria.
He adds: “I call on all parties involved in this incident to allow the police to progress its investigation into the matter and not to take the law into their own hands.”
Police warn employees, members of the public and responsible owners of vehicles and drivers to stop drink and drive and the common trend of unauthorised use of company, private and government vehicles for such illegal purposes.
