Hunters face Blackhawks for 2018 Air Niugini Kokoda Cup

The 2nd annual Air Niugini Kokoda Cup between the Townsville Blackhawks and SP PNG Hunters is on again this Sunday, the 27th of May at the Oil Search National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

The match continues to honour the Battle of Kokoda as well as mark the 01st anniversary of the airline’s direct flight between Port Moresby and Townsville in Australia.

Air Niugini’s General Manager Commercial, Mr Dominic Kaumu said last year’s inaugural match was memorable with the SP PNG Hunters winning the 01st Air Niugini Kokoda Cup.

He said “Supporters of the SP PNG Hunters and the Townsville Blackhawks and rugby league fans in general are encouraged to come along and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of exciting rugby league.”

PNG Rugby Football League CEO Reatau Rau acknowledged Air Niugini’s ongoing support to the SP PNG Hunters and is appreciative of this competitive opportunity between the two sides that dwell on either side of the direct Townsville service

Mr Rau further added that “Last year’s inaugural clash was exciting when SP Hunters won the Air Niugini Kokoda Cup. This will inspire and motivate the SP Hunters to retain the Cup in Port Moresby therefore this Sunday will see a stronger and determined challenge by both sides.”
