The National Planning Consultative Summit is set to go, said National Planning& Monitoring Minister, Hon. Richard Maru, following agreements reached between the Ministry and Department of National Planning and the Government of Morobe to co-host the Summit along with the CIMC as our major partner.

The Summit will be held at the Lae International Hotel from 20 – 22 March, 2018.The Theme of the Summit will be “Securing our Future through Inclusive Economic Growth”.

The primary purpose of the Summit is to have honest review of how PNG has developed over the last 43 years using key development Indicators and how we can perform better in the next few years under a new Medium Term Development Plan which includes economic growth as our key target.

With our population growth spanning out of control, youth unemployment reaching crisis levels no responsible Government can sit back and pretend that all is well. We have a collective and moral obligation to our children and our grand-children and our future generations to build a better and prosperous future for them and achieve our shared Vision 2050.

We are all seeking better performance in all sectors to grow our economy and overall socio-economic performance in line with Alotau Accord II.

Sponsors are already lining up to support this important Summit with National Development Bank (NDB) and Mainland Holdings to be the first to come on board and many more sponsors are lining up to support this Summit which will be key public stakeholder forum to seek inputs and guidance from our key stakeholders to assist our Government to formulate the new Medium Term Development Plan 2018 - 2022, said Minister Maru.
