Star-studded Broncos named for PNG Hunters clash

The SP PNG Hunters are well aware of the test that lies ahead for them when they take on a full strength Brisbane Broncos side in their first trial match.
It will be a test for both teams come February 24 at the Oil Search National Football Stadium, the Broncos have laid their cards out on the table holding nothing back with the naming of their 23-man squad for the trial match.
The Brisbane Broncos are expected to arrive in Port Moresby on Thursday, February 22 for their final hit out before the start of the NRL 2018 season.
Both teams will be looking to test out their new recruits and also try some new combinations towards the start of the season.
SP PNG Hunters coach Michael during training last week spoke of the potential of the new faces in the side in the forwards and halves combination.
Marum added that the Broncos would hold nothing back as they promised to bring in a strong team that would provide the best test for the young players and for the experienced campaigners as well to see if the team is cut out for a back to back premiership.
The Broncos have named their full strength team consisting of the team’s big name stars Darius Boyd, Sam Thaiday, Anthony Milford, Josh Maguire, Kodi Nikorima and Matt Gillet are just a few big name stars in the team.
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chief Executive officer Reatau Rau has welcomed the Broncos line-up as promised during his trip to meet the executives during the initial talks of staging the trial match.
“We received their travelling squad list yesterday and I am happy to say that the Broncos have honoured their commitment and will send their premier side for this historical trial match,” Rau said.
Also travelling to Port Moresby is Broncos CEO Paul White and former players in Allan Langer, Scott Prince and Justin Hodges.
Rau said the match day tickets will be on sale from February 12. Post Courier/ONE PNG
