Solomon Islands Police in Gizo arrested 11 suspects for alcohol related issues

Police in Gizo arrested 11 suspects for illegal sale of alcohol of during the Christmas Festivity Operation in two different locations.

The two location raided during the operation were in Rarumana in Vona Vona lagoon and Retava village in Vella la Vella in Western Province.

Provincial Police Commander, Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The Seven alleged suspects apprehended in Retava will appear in Gizo Magistrates Court on the 22 January 2018. Police charge them for restriction of making liquor (home brew).”

PPC Lenialu says, “The other four suspects from Rarumana will appeared in the Gizo Magistrate Court on the 15 January 2018, they are charge for Illegal sale of beer (black market).”

He further stated, “I would like to thank Crime Prevention Committee members along coast of Vonunu who reported matters of illegal brewing of Homebrew, which lead to the arrest of seven suspects.” 

Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “I would like to thank the community chiefs, church leaders and elders for supporting the police and working together by providing information. Without you, police cannot work effectively to address problems in our communities.”

“I appeal to my good people of Western Province to provide any information about the illegal sale of beer and home brew in our communities and Call our office line on phone 60999 or free tall line 999 and report them,” Mr Lenialu concluded.
