PNG Hunters : PNG behind you, says GG Dadae

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae has sent his well wishes to the PNG Hunters who hope to bring home the country’s first-ever Queensland Cup rugby league title in Brisbane on Sunday.

Sir Bob also sent his well wishes to the PNG PM’s XIII who take on Australia’s PM’s XIII in Port Moresby.

The vice-regal said PNG Hunters success in making the Grand Final against Sunshine Coast Falcons at Suncorp Stadium, has proven yet again that we in PNG can be just as good at international events.

“I want to wish all PNG Hunters players the very best when they take on the Sunshine Coast Falcons in Queensland, this weekend,” he said.

“I, like your fellow Papua New Guineans, have been following closely your progress and wins throughout this rugby league season, and I am proud of your achievement going into the grand final ahead of other top contenders of this season,” Sir Bob said.

“Your success has proven yet again that we in PNG can be just as good at international events if we put our mind and work hard towards achieving our goals.

“You are an inspiration to our young and old alike, that no matter where they are in our country, and whatever they do, be it in sports, business or community service, they too can have an impact on the international scene and make our nation proud.

“Congratulations to you all and your coach, Michael Marum, for your achievement going into the grand final. Win or lose, Papua New Guinea is proud of you and behind you,” he said.
