Police investigate Indian man killed by forklift in Madang

Police in Madang in Papua New Guinea are investigating the death of an Indian employee who was run over by a forklift last Thursday.
Officer in-charge of the Traffic Department Frank Makora said the man was walking with two colleagues when the incident happened at the corner of Ela Enterprise’s main office leading towards Rookes Marine.
Makora said the deceased was hit by the fork of a heavy forklift.
The operator allegedly continued and ran over him.
Makora said some bystanders yelled at the operator and told him that he had run over a man.
“The operator reversed and ran over him again,” Makora said.
Modilon hospital ambulance driver Jack Vekau said the man was killed instantly.
Makora urged the public not to spread speculate  how the forklift  had hit the man.
“It was an accident which we are attending to right now and the people must not listen to secondary stories and spread rumours,” he said.
Ela Enterprise chief executive Jalu Patel said the deceased, ParasMurarka,25, from Mumbai in India was the accounts and administration manager for the company.
“He is my right hand man and the only one to answer all the questions,” Patel said.
Murarka’s usual task every afternoon was to make sure all employees boarded the drop-off company truck for home.
