Airlines PNG has no plans for International operations

AIRLINES PNG has no plans to operate to overseas destinations at present after stopping its international services two years ago, chief commercial officer Paul Abbot says.
He said the airline wanted to concentrate on the PNG market.
Abbot was responding to media reports that the Samoan Prime Minister had invited Airlines PNG to begin flights to Faleolo airport, connecting Samoa to Los Angeles and Hong Kong.
Radio New Zealand reported that Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi not only invited the Director of Airlines PNG, Sir Kostas Constantinou, to start the practice, but pressed him to promise to do so within the next 12 months.
“It is unlikely however that PNG to Samoa and beyond to LA and Hong Kong would be considered,” Abbot said.
“At this stage we (APNG) have no plans to operate internationally however that’s not to say that in a couple of years we review our operations and recommence international services.
“We ceased international services two years ago in order to concentrate on the domestic market and extending our network and product offering here.
“With the arrival of the first of the new ATR in September this is the next stage in consolidating a stronger position domestically in Papua New Guinea.
