PNG POWER ADDRESS EMPLOYEES GRIEVANCE

PNG Power's Chief Executive Officer John Tangit has been suspended.
Executive Director John Mangos says he is now taking on both the responsibility of CEO and Executive Director.
However, reasons for Mr Tangit's suspension were not disclosed.
His suspension comes after PNG Power employees shut down power stations at Ramu Hydro, cutting off electricity supply to Morobe, Madang and the Highlands areas.
Power was also cut in East New Britain while load shedding was carried out in the National Capital District with the shutting down of the Rouna stations.
Meanwhile PNG Power employees' long wait for their over-due pay increase is finally over.
The employees will now receive their pay rises starting the next fortnight week.
Mr Mangos announced this to employees in Port Moresby today.
PNG Energy Workers Association General Secretary Santee Margis says the employees are happy and will return to work but other unresolved issues are before the Labor Department for negotiation. NBC
