Prime Minister O'Neill congretulates Indonesia's President Joko Widodo

PRIME Minister Peter O’Neil has conveyed his congratulations to the President–elect of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Joko Widodo after he was declared by the Indonesian Election Commission as the winner of the recent national elections.
 “Indonesia is a very close friend and partner of Papua New Guinea”. “The Government of Papua New Guinea looks forward to our strong and functional partnership continuing with Indonesia”. “We have many shared interests and our relationship has continued to grow”. “At a cultural level, the representation of Indonesia at the 5th Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture that took place in various locations around Papua New Guinea, gave us all a chance to better understand each other’s cultural strengths and diversity”. Over the past decade, Papua New Guinea has welcomed the friendship of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and look forward to continuing this relationship with the new President as he assumes his Office. The inauguration of the President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Jokowi Widodo will take place in Indonesia on 20 October 2014.
