Contracts to be reviewed

Contracts on major road projects in Papua New Guinea can expect to be investigated by an independent review team, if warranted.

Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill said this, when announcing the scrutiny into the pricing of two similar projects, by the review team, to be appointed by Government's Chief Secretary, Sir Mansupe Zurenuoc.

The contracts under question are, the Lae-Nadzab road in Morobe and Togoba-Kisenepoi road in the highlands, whose pricing amounts to over a billion Kina.

Mr. O'Neill says, the National Executive Council decided on this scrutiny, following concern about the high pricing on these two projects, which involve public funds.

He states, in instituting this review, N-E-C is in no way, trying to undermine the professionalism and efforts of public servants.
