PNG are one of 28 teams competing in the Cabramatta International Nines tournament, alongside fellow World Cup-bound nations Samoa, Fiji, Tonga and the Cook Islands.Lam admits he isn’t overly familiar with the nine-a-side game and says he will be using the event as a warm-up for his Residents team, who take on the South Sydney Rabittohs next weekend.“The thing about this trip is that every player has got an opportunity to cement a spot in the world cup squad of 23. We are taking 20 players and every one of them has got an equal opportunity to do that. We’re looking at people to come out of the box and show us something that they’re real a true contender to hold a spot. We’ve kept the same squad as we played against the Prime Ministers 13 Australian side in September, that performed pretty well. And again, they’re aware of the situation that they’ve got - we’ve got a big year ahead of us.”
