RSIPF mounts security operation for FIFA World Cup trophy

The Royal Solomon Island Police force will be mounting an operation to provide security during the brief tour of the FIFA World Cup trophy on Thursday 1 January 2018.

The trophy will be travelling to the country from Tonga to Solomon Islands and will be in the country for a short while.

“We will be providing security to ensure that no anti-social behaviours during the stop-over and to ensure that the members of the public are safe,” says Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Gabriel Manelusi.

“We are so proud that Solomon Islands has been included in this unique visit of the FIFA World Cup around the world. The world is watching this event so I appeal to all citizens living in and around Honiara to witness the arrival of the word cup responsibly.”

The trophy will be at the Henderson Airport from 8 am – 11 am tomorrow morning before travelling to Papua New Guinea.
