Air Vanuatu board sacked

The six member Board of Directors of Air Vanuatu has been terminated.

They are: John Lum, Maki Simelum, Joseph Tamata, James Bule, Henry Saurei and Jacques Nauka.

The termination was made on August 29, 2017, according to a Resolution of the Shareholders decision of July 12.

The termination letters was signed by Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai.

No reason was given for the termination.

However, the termination letter states that “the Chairman of the Shareholders said that the Council of Ministers (COM) already decided to terminate the current members of the Board of Directors of Air Vanuatu Operations Limited”.

The motion to terminate the six Directors was made in conformity with the Council of Ministers decision.

It was moved by shareholder — Minister of Finance Gaetan Pikioune and seconded by shareholder-Minister of Justice Ronald Warsal, during the Shareholders Extraordinary general meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister on July 12.

The Motion was carried unanimously.

The termination letter, signed by PM Salwai, states: “I inform you that the shareholders of the company, decided on 12th July to terminate your appointment as a director of the Board of Directors of the Company.

“I thank you for the contributions and time dedicated to Air Vanuatu (Operations) Ltd during your service.”
The Daily Post could not get comments from the six terminated members prior press nor the Government, to elaborate on the reason (s) behind the termination.
