The Papua New Guinea  Pepes held off a late fightback from Botswana to win 54-49 in their third match yesterday at 2015 Mission Foods Nations Cup.

It was the toughest encounter so far for the Pepes. Both teams finished the first quarter at 13-13.

Botswana had the edge, taking a two point lead going into half time with the score at 28-26.

The Pepes fought back to lead 39-38 after the third quarter with the game right in the balance.

But the Pepes surged home to grab the win in the last quarter, scoring 15 goals compared to Botswana’s 11.

The Pepes will take on the Singapore Invitational side in their fourth match today at 3pm (5pm PNG time).
