Papua New Guinea will rely on Vietnam’s experience in hosting the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meet in 2018.
During the APEC meet in Manila yesterday, Minster Pato met with the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh who expressed a sincere respect and admiration for PNG.
The Vietnamese Deputy PM and Foreign Minister told his PNG ministerial counterpart that Both countries need to have more cooperation and work closely to foster bilateral relations.
It was established during the meet that negotiations for both countries to establish honorary consul’s in each other’s countries would be set up to prepare for their hosting of APEC in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Vietnam is hosting APEC Leaders Summit in 2017 and PNG will be hosting the major event in 2018. Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister Rimbink Pato reiterated the need to work together as APEC nations and pledged to give more attention to the cooperation of the two countries.
