FUN RUN 2015 TO COINCIDE WITH 2015 PACIFIC GAMES

“This year’s event is going to be fantastic as you’re going to not only participate in the Fun Run but get to be part of the Pacific Games.”
These are the opening remarks from Minister for Sports and 2015 Pacific Games Justin Tkatchenko when launching the 2015 Trukai Fun Run yesterday evening in Port Moresby.
“This is a family event. We want see every family out there on the day, 5th of July, after the Opening Ceremony of the Pacific Games, bringing their families out not only for health and fitness but showing their support for the Pacific Games and also for the Fun Run itself which is the main event,” says Minister Tkatchenko.
The Minister adds, “It can only be a success when we all go out and come together as a family, as a team and as a country and show our true support and show our Pacific neighbours that will be here what Papua New Guinea is all about.”
The Fun Run, originally an initiative of the PNG Olympic Committee has been run for the past 32 years and this year will mark the 16th year of Trukai Industries as the major sponsor since claiming the naming rights in year 2000. And to show their continuous support Trukai has again given 100, 000 T-Shirts for this year’s event.
The National event will fall on Sunday 5th of July, 2015, the morning after the Opening Ceremony of the Pacific Games and will also coincide with the Sport of Triathlon which will be the first event for the Games.
According to the Sports Minister, participants in Port Moresby will get to witness the Tri-athletes coming through the finishing line at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium where all participants will get to gather after the Fun Run.
This year’s Fun Run will be even special as every T-Shirt pack purchase will come with a special medallion for participants to keep as a Fun Run memorabilia. PNGvillage
