Five arrested for alleged armed robbery in Honiara, Solomon Islands

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Police Response Unit (PRT) and Criminal Investigators from Honiara Central Police Station have arrested five suspects in regards to an alleged robbery at the Happy Day Shop, in the Point Cruz area last night 1 May 2018.
“It is alleged that the suspects went into the shop and during the armed robbery the owner of the shop and another person were struck with machetes and received injuries to their arms. It is alleged the suspects took off with some money and other items,” says Provincial Police Commander Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga.
 He adds: “As soon as we received the report from our Police Communications Centre, a team comprising of our Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Police Response Team (PRT) attended the report and successfully arrested of five suspects. They are now in Police custody as investigations into the incident continues.”
“I want to thank officers from the PRT, Police Communications, and my investigators for their quick response resulting in the successful arrests,” says PPC Uiga.
