Selection Process on for Baruni Women's Rugby

The future looks promising for young women in Baruni Village who love the sport of Rugby League and who dream of playing alongside some of PNGs very own Rugby League stars, with the successful hosting of the inaugural Baruni Womens Rugby League 9s Competition.

President of the competition Mr Ginate Maraga says the girls are excited and have even made upfront payments to participate in the Annual Motu Koitabu Rugby League 9s Tournament which kicks off in February 2018.

“The Baruni Womens Rugby League 9s Competition ends in March but midway through, we will select players for two teams including A and B grade Divisions to represent the village in the upcoming MK Rugby League 9s Competition.”

He further added, “We need support from our Leaders or Corporate Groups in the National Capital District for the upgrade of the field as well as uniforms for the teams.”

“Right now, it’s positive to note we already have all the technical support from the menfolk in the village.” PNGFM
