PNG Orchids receives jerseys

The PNG Orchids women’s national rugby league team received their commemorative jerseys for the historic match against the Australian Jillaroos this Saturday in Port Moresby.
The match will be played as a curtain raiser to the Prime Minister’s X111 clash between PNG and Australia at the National Football Stadium.
Oil Search Limited are the major sponsors of the PNG Orchids.
“We are thrilled to present the Oil Search PNG Orchids with their new Prime Minister’s XIII jersey, ahead of the game”, said Oil Search executive general manager Gerea Aopi.
“This is PNG’s first ever women’s national rugby league team to participate in an international event and as such we are proud to create sporting history alongside them.
“Oil Search is also a proud advocate of women’s empowerment. We strongly support the campaign to end violence against women, through the company as well as the Oil Search Foundation.
“That’s why we’ve made sure that this message is displayed clearly for everyone to see on the jersey – ‘Strongpla man respektim meri’ (Strong men respect women).
“This is the message we want the world to see. Our national sport should be the domain for both men and women, that’s why we are proud to be the national sponsor of this group of talented women,’’ added Aopi.
