Mass burial to be arranged for 13 people that lost their lives in fatal road accident in Oro

The CEO of the Popondetta Hospital in Oro Province  has confirmed this morning that a mass burial will be arranged for the 13 lives lost yesterday during a fatal road accident at the PEKUMA corner in Oro Province.

At least 13 people have been confirmed dead following a nasty road accident in Popondetta yesterday afternoon.
10 people survived the accident and are being treated at the Hospital.

The accident involved an OIVO PMV bus from TIMBEKI village which collided into a USG Fruit truck at PEKUMA corner.
It is believed that amongst those who died is the SOHE DISTRICT Treasurer, Gilbert MANDURU.
Meanwhile, Oro Governor, Gary JUFFA, has passed on his condolences to families of the victims in the accident, describing it as totally unnecessary.

Mr Juffa said according to sources this involved a PMV and an oil palm contracting company.
He added that this particular company's manager has been warned by me many times about his drivers who drive at high speed while picking up and dropping off oil palm fruit bunches.
Juffa said most times these bunch are overloaded and never secured.
He said numerous instructions to Oro Administration and Police to enforce the traffic laws on such poor compliance have fallen on deaf years. PNGFM/ ONE PNG
