Develop Lae city according to regulations

INCREASED business activities calls for increased infrastructure developments but must be compliant with planning regulations says Lae city’s Physical Planning Task Force coordinator Solomon Korovolo’o-Wala.

He said infrastructure development sites were over looking the planing regulations of the city.

He said Lae was booming with business activities but there was a need to consider the regulations set by the Provincial Planning Board.

Mr Wala said fencing along foot parts must take into consideration pedestrians, leisure venues and the beautification of the city before constructionwas undertaken.

"The space of pedestrian’s foot paths besides the city feeder roads should be more than two meters away from the main roads when constructing or fencing an area," he said.

He said his team recently demolished fencing done at top town area which was very close to main road side.

Mr Wala said fencing at Eriku’s public toilet area has been noticed following complaints from the publict hat it was too close to the road side, pushing pedestrians out to the main road which was risky.
