PNG CUSTOMS BOOSTED

Customs PNG has been pledged with the support the government Minister Richard Maru this morning but its major challenges are still been worked on.
One such issue is the need to decease the turn-around time of containers and basics like having someone to attend to clients and customers at the front desk each day.
The lack of urgency in arrivals of goods and services is taking too long and its costing millions of kina for businesses especially when there is a delay.
Some PNG Businesses are also concerned with the security of their cargoes. Customs has informed clients and service providers that they have functions in place to ensure goods aren’t tempered with.
Communications systems have been boosted as well so ports can communicate with each other on the movement of containers. These were all mentioned at a 2 day PNG Customs Service Business Consultative Forum which started this morning. PNGFM
