PNG Kapuls go down to NZ in penalty shootouts

PNG’s tireless efforts to keep their FIFA World Cup hopes alive faded at the penalty shootouts when New Zealand scored 4 goals over the Kapuls 2 goals after a scoreless 90 minutes and extra time of football to take home the OFC Nations Cup in front of a capacity home crowd.

Both teams displayed a classy football contest while PNG fans cheered endlessly for the home team and kept the players on their toes eager to finish off with converted opportunities but to no avail.

Tommy Semmy and Michael Foster both were awarded yellow cards for careless play in the second half of match.
New Zealand takes the cup home for the 5th time and have won the rights to represent the Oceania region at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
