Governor Kila Haoda visits Pernix Offic in Fiji

Suva, Fiji—The Governor of Central Province of Papua New Guinea, Hon. Kila Haoda, MP, visited the Pernix Office with his delegation and saw first-hand their operations in Fiji. Governor Haoda visited the new 36MW new power plant in Suva that was built and now operated by Pernix.

The General Manager of PERNIX PNG, Nirmal Singh, said that they were honored to host the Governor and his delegation and looks forward to working with the Central Province Government to explore opportunities in partnership for the benefit of the people of the Central Province.  Nirmal said that there are excellent potential opportunities in renewable energy projects such as hydro and other sectors in the Central Province that Pernix can help build and operate.  He said it has been our culture to work in partnership with locals so that the benefits of such projects are shared with the people of Papua New Guinea.  Besides helping the economy, creating employment and paying our taxes, we also believe in sharing our profits with our local partner so that people can benefit and have sense of ownership of Pernix PNG.

Pernix PNG has commenced operations in PNG since April this year and are now building their capacity to undertake projects of any size and scope.  They have carried out an acquisition of the batch plant and land in Port Moresby that will be developed to provide support of growth for PNG Operations.

Governor Haoda said he was very impressed with Pernix operations and looks forward to working in partnership with them to development various power projects to drive growth and investment in the province for the benefit of his people.  As part of his visit Governor Haoda has also studied the land management system and other potential investment opportunities for his province.

Pernix Group is undertaking a major expansion program in the Pacific Rim.  They are currently in Fiji, Guam, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Samoa.  They will be setting up operations in East Timor later this year. ENDS
