PNG Hunters skipper Zeming under injury cloud

PNG Hunters co-captain Noel Zeming under injury cloud for
2016 season opener
The Papua New Guinea Hunters will give co-captain Noel Zeming until match-day to prove his fitness for Sunday's Queensland Cup rugby league season opener against Souths Logan Magpies.

Zeming travelled to Brisbane for yesterday's season launch along with suspended co-captain Adam Korave and head coach Michael Marum.

The 26 year-old injured his knee in training on Wednesday and Marum says a decision on whether he will be able to lead the team out will be left until the last minute.Michael Marum says after a long pre-season they can't wait for the season to start and are looking to continue their perfect record against Souths Logan.

"The new players in the side have fitted in really well. We only had one trial game so apart from that we've done a lot of training and it's good to see the boys finally go out there and start playing. They've got some new players in the side as well. We've never lost to them over the last two seasons already and that's something we're going to be looking out for. They'll be fired up, ready to go on Sunday."

Michael Marum says hooker Wartovo Puara will lead the team, in his 50th match for the Hunters, if Noel Zeming is ruled out.
