MSG Chair makes first capital visit - Vanuatu

The Prime Minister of Solomon Islands and Chair of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG),Manasseh Sogavare is currently undertaking his MSG capital visits from 16 to 28 February – firstly in Port Vila, then on to Noumea, Suva and Port Moresby.

Prime Minister Sogavare also extends his visit to Jakarta, Indonesia who are Associate Member to the MSG grouping.

The Chair of the MSG, Prime Minister Sogavare who arrived in Vanuatu on Tuesday paid his first courtesy to the newly elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu, Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas, MP, and also visited the Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade, Bruno Leingkone, MP.

Prime Minister Sogavare during his capital visit to Vanuatu also handed over to the Prime Minister of Vanuatu the MSG Observer Report that was completed after the 2016 Vanuatu elections.

The report was conducted by the MSG Observer Group who observed the national elections in January 22 2016 as per a request by the Government of the Republic of Vanuatu.

The Chair of the MSG also met the Acting Director General of the MSG Secretariat, Molean Kilepak and staff of the Secretariat on the work programme and affairs of the Secretariat for 2016. PacNews
