NRI to hold stakeholder’s workshop on new education policy research framework

The National Research Institute (NRI) is formulating a new Universal Basic Education Policy Research
Framework to respond to stakeholder needs for data to inform planning, policy development and
advocacy, and programming at various levels.

The institute has made important contributions towards influencing and shaping education
interventions, education dialogue, and practice through its Universal Basic Education Research
Program (UBERP) over the past few years.

This was made possible through stakeholder collaboration and support to the research program to
implement its 2012 Universal Basic Education Policy Research Framework. A number of significant
and groundbreaking research projects have been carried out to provide research results to inform
the formulation of education policies and plans, and address basic education delivery gaps.
This research framework is being reviewed to provide a platform for the institute to better respond
to the data needs of the Department of Education (DoE) in particular and other stakeholders more
broadly.

The UBERP will be conducting a one-day stakeholder workshop on its draft Universal Basic Education
Research Framework on Thursday 10th December, 2015 at the NRI Conference Center, beginning at
9:00 am. The main purpose of the workshop is to present the draft Policy Research Framework and
receive feedback from the stakeholders. It is a closed workshop, and attendance is strictly by
invitation only.

Invited stakeholders are strongly urged to attend as their participation is critical to NRI’s
ongoing efforts to make education research and monitoring and evaluation relevant to the
data needs of the national education system going forward.
